Have you ever walked or ran a 5k? Many may walk or run a 5k each day. If you move yourself 3.3 miles a day, you are well on your way to a 5k a day!
Thinking of the concept of a 5k and the associated numbers 3.3, I believe we can apply this to many aspects of our life. Do you spend 3.3 uninterrupted hours a day to think? Or spend 3.3 hours with your family, reading a good book, taking a long walk with your dog or exercising? My guess is that most of us do not plan 3.3 hours a day for ourselves, and it's completely understandable.
We each live busy lives with work, family, volunteering, etc. and these days all are intermingled at times, even within the same space of our homes. It is hard to carve out the time, but we also need to think about what happens when we don't prioritize ourselves. Don't get me wrong- it is often easier said than done, but once you get in the habit, it can be very rewarding.
I have found that being healthy mentally and physically means you are going to need to give yourself some time- schedule yourself for 3.3 hours a day. If you cannot do each day, how about every other day or twice a week? Whatever works for you, but just make sure you do it. You may find that it helps you feel refreshed, get an energy boost or get a few moments to just close your eyes.
How would you spend 3.3 hours on yourself?
Ideas I have tried: Walking the track or on the beach, finding a hiking path, reading a good book, taking a nap, designing and drawing a new room, grabbing my camera (yes, the real one, not the one on my phone :) , making s'mores, and hanging out with my family at our fire pit.
I bet you have some ideas of things to do- try to see if you can practice the 5k Way!!
